Delores Oliver Calloway

Mrs. Delores Oliver Calloway was born in Washington, D.C. and moved to Hobe Sound, Florida at an early age.  She was the fourth of six children born to the late Jacob Oliver, Sr. and Ruby Baker Oliver.

Delores received her formal education in the public schools of Martin County Florida.  She matriculated at Florida A & M University where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education with minors in Business and Early Childhood Education.  Additionally, she received a Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education and Administration and Supervision from Florida Atlantic University.  Her professional career began in Orlando, Florida but she soon returned to Martin County where she serves as a teacher, primary specialist, assistant principal, principal, Director of School Improvement ad Curriculum and Executive Director for Instructional Services.  In addition to these roles, she is an educational consultant who is trained to provide staff development in several areas.

During her career Delores always modeled and worked tirelessly to instill her “love of learning” in the hearts and minds of all that she encountered.  After 35 years, Delores retired from a career that she refers to as a “labor of life”.  The privilege of working with students, parents, teachers and staff richly blessed her life.  Currently she works with AdvancED as an Engagement Review Team Lead for school districts and individual schools and with Florida Atlantic University as a mentor to students in the AIT (Advancement Into Teaching) program.

Her philosophy aligns with her favorite bible verse, “I can do all thins through Christ who strengthens me.” – Philippians 4:13.  This philosophy has been the driving force throughout her personal and professional life.

Delores is a member of Mount Oliver Missionary Baptist Church, The Links, Incorporated and a life member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.

She is married to her “best friend” and the “love of her life”, Mr. Dan W. Calloway.
